BARR. ADEMUBOWALE MERCY ADELABU

Barr. Ademubowale Adelabu, was appointed as the first female Chairman, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Ayede Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria, by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on 14th June, 2024.

Her appointment carries a deep significance for selflessness and dedication to nation building as leaders of the future. She is an indigene of Oyo State, a young vibrant, dynamic public speaker, governance and social developmental contributor. She is admired by many for her soft spoken posture, gentle but firm advocate for justice and equity especially for women, young people and children. A seasoned legal practitioner of over 17 years with a range of practical experience in leadership roles, interpersonal relations, soliciting, litigation and mediation advocacy. She has a vast knowledge of corporate and property laws, a counsellor, meticulous administrator, a grass root politician and mobilizer, leader and strong character reformer for a better society. She is a human rights advocate particularly with respect to the protection of the rights of women, young adults and children. She is objective, proactive, solution driven and committed to genuinely establishing strong and sustainable institutional systems.

Her passion for social development and values for sustenance motivated her into politics as one of the grass root mobiliser. She contested the seat of Ido Local Government Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly 2019 and has not relented in being part of constructive politics at the Local, State and National level.

ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS ATTENDED AND PROFESSIONAL BODIES

Mrs Adelabu possess a Law degree and other certificates and trainings attended across Nigeria. She is the current Vice Chairperson of International Federation of Women Lawyers Association (FIDA), Oyo Branch and a member of the Nigeria Bar Association (Ibadan branch) serving in the disciplinary committee. Member of the Certified Institution of Auctioneers Nigeria (CIAN). Media presenter on Gender and Child’s right on electronic media. She sits as a member of Board of Trustees of several organizations.

It is worthy to note that she has attended a wide range of courses and seminars on arbitration and mediation around the country. Her skills, knowledge and expertise span across litigation to corporate practice, governance, children and women’s right.

Before her appointment, she was and still is the Principal partner/ Head of Chamber AANU Legal Practitioners & Consultants based in Ibadan, Oyo State.
