About us

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department is an academic department within the School of Engineering at Federal Polytechnic Ayede. Led by the pioneer Acting Head of Department, Engr. O.M. Tijani, the department is dedicated to providing quality education and research in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.

Currently, the department consists of five (5) full-time lecturers, one (1) adjunct, and three (3) non-teaching staff members. Upholding firm discipline and integrity, the department emphasizes professional conduct in line with the ethical code of the institution. Students are expected to dress corporately and maintain professionalism both inside and outside the classroom, adhering to the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.

Program: National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Electronic Engineering

Objectives

The National Diploma in Electrical Electronic Engineering program is designed to produce electrical engineering technicians for various industries, including manufacturing, assembling, servicing, power generation, transmission, distribution, utilization, telecommunication, and related sectors. Graduates of this program should be able to:

  • Construct simple electrical and electronic circuits for modification or as part of a system.
  • Assemble, install, and test-run simple electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Carry out both preventive and corrective maintenance on simple electronic/electrical installations, equipment, and appliances.
  • Select and use appropriate instruments to conduct simple tests and measurements on all types of electrical and electronic installations and equipment under various operating conditions.
  • Operate relevant equipment and installations as required.
  • Prepare simple bills of quantities and specifications related to electrical/electronic engineering works.
  • Coordinate and supervise craftsmen in activities related to electrical/electronic engineering services.
  • Maintain a personal logbook to record daily and weekly activities for each semester.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering Technology are:

  • SSCE or its equivalents with (5) “O” Level Credit passes at not more than two sittings.
  • Subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any one from Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics.

Program Duration

The ND in Electrical Electronic Engineering full-time program spans a period of four (4) semesters.
