About us

The Computer Engineering department is an academic department within the School of Engineering Technology at Federal Polytechnic Ayede. Led by the pioneer Acting Head of Department, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) T.M. Adepoju, the department is dedicated to providing quality education and research in the field of computer engineering.

Currently, the department comprises four (4) full-time academic staff and two (2) non-academic staff members. Upholding firm discipline and integrity, the department emphasizes professional conduct in line with the ethical code of the institution. Students are expected to dress corporately and maintain professionalism both inside and outside the classroom, while adhering to the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.

Program: National Diploma (ND) in Computer Engineering Technology

Objectives

The National Diploma Program in Computer Engineering Technology is designed to produce computer technicians capable of installing, maintaining, and repairing computer system software, hardware, and peripherals. Graduates of this program should be able to:

  • Map out the layout for computer installations and networking.
  • Set up the installation, configuration, and operation of computer systems.
  • Set up the installation, configuration, and operation of computer networks.
  • Use appropriate instruments and software to conduct simple tests and measurements on all subsystems in a computer and its peripherals.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Construct simple computer circuits.
  • Develop simple programming codes.
  • Present technical reports.
  • Manage a small enterprise.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology program include:

  • A minimum score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Five credit passes at not more than two sittings in relevant subjects in WASSCE, SSCE, NTC, GCE Ordinary level, WAEC, or NECO. The relevant subjects are: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one other subject from Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity, Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Computer Studies, Geography, and Biology or Agricultural Science.

Program Duration

The ND in Computer Engineering Technology full-time program spans a period of four (4) semesters.
